BP Solar Power System Warranty
A
solar power system is only as good as its warranty,
and the companies behind the warranty. The two main
components that are at issue are the solar panels and
the inverter. The panels come with a 25 year warranty.
From BP Solar's perspective, if any panel puts out
less than 80% of its rated power, it is considered
defective, and will be replaced. With some other
companies, even if a panel is putting out as little as
25% of the rated power, it is still considered to be
working fine, and would not be replaced. BP solar
is the only company around who has been producing
solar panels for a period longer than the warranty!
BP
Solar’s technology has proven its reliability in
some of the most brutal environments on earth – and
beyond. Our technology is used on telecommunication
towers on wind-swept mountaintops, weather stations in
the bitter cold of Antarctica and wells in Africa’s
blazing deserts – even on satellites orbiting in
space. BP Solar modules operate in temperatures
ranging from -13 to 122 degrees F (-25 to 50 degrees
C).
The
standard warranty on an inverter is 5 years. Home
Depot doubles this to 10 years! The inverter is
subject to wear and tear as it tends to dissipate heat
as it converts the DC power to AC power.
What
you get is piece of mind knowing that your solar power
system is working day and (well, not really at night).
About the only maintenance you need to do is to
periodically hose off any dust or debris from your
panels. If there is a problem, you have the two
leaders in their respective industries there to
restore your system to peak performance, instead of
trying to chase down some local company who is here
today but gone tomorrow.
